5-Minute Smoky Pumpkin Hummus

You could make plain hummus in five minutes, but will it look this good? My recipe for 5-Minute Smoky Pumpkin Hummus looks bomb and it’s also got that savory and spicy and sweet thing goin’ on. Plus, it’s gluten free, sugar free, and vegan.

Okay friends. I have a treat for you. Actually, I have two treats for you. One: Smoky Pumpkin Hummus (obvs). Two: The secret to productivity. THE secret. I have figured it out and now you’re all dying to know.

Which treat do you want first? I know… that’s a tough question. But that’s how I do – I just come out, guns a’blazin,’ asking you to reveal your heart’s truest, deepest, most magical desires. And I think that you desire hummus first and foremost. But only because it’s Smoky Pumpkin Hummus.

But because I’m your best blog friend and I love to share my most personal secrets: THE secret to productivity is… a cup of coffee at 4 pm.

Seriously, it’s that simple. I haven’t needed (or really even wanted) a nap in a week. I’ve been able to (mostly) keep up with my work calendar, blog calendar, freelance calendar, social calendar, workout calendar. (Yes, those are all real calendars that I really keep.)

What about bedtime, you ask? Doesn’t this cup of coffee keep you awake? Actually, I think it keeps me going just until 11 pm and then I immediately become exhausted and fall into deep, dreamless sleep, which is one version of heaven.

Disclaimers:
*I have not experimented with coffee after 4 pm.
**I don’t start my day with coffee. My 4 pm cup is my only cup.
***As a dietitian, I would like to say that moderate amounts of coffee and/or caffeine consumption do not negatively impact your health. I endorse this habit (for now).

And now, let’s get to that second treat.

I hope you’re not over pumpkin yet. Is pumpkin sort of a September/October thing? Um, no. You can buy canned pumpkin at any time of year. You can make this pumpkin hummus in July if you’d like. You could make Sunny Pumpkin Cherry Bars or Carrot-Pumpkin Bread in July. In fact, I think I will – just to prove my point.

Reasons to love this recipe:
(The obvious ones first)

  1. 5-Minute
  2. Smoky
  3. Pumpkin
  4. Hummus

Actually, that about covers it.

But because I’m totally in love with this and want you to be too, let me add:

5. Versatile. Think dippers – popcorn, pretzels, veggies, pita, graham crackers. So many!
6. It’s got the savory + spicy + sweet thang goin’ on.
7. Beauty. You could make plain hummus in 5-minutes, but will it look this good on your table?
