I did a Mother’s Day Gift Guide, so I feel like it’s only fair to do one for Father’s Day too. The father’s always seem to get the short end of the stick. Or is that just in my family? We give cards and flowers and sometimes little gifts on Mother’s Day and make Mother a nice dinner. But I can’t remember what we did on the last Father’s Day, or the Father’s Day before that, or if I was even home for either of them or even for the past 10. Huh.
So, for the sake of gender equality, I present to you: a Father’s Day Gift Guide for all those fathers who like to spend time in the kitchen. Or at the grill.
(Please know that I am an affiliate for these products. That means, if you make a purchase through one of the following links, I will receive a commission. However, these opinions are all my own. I think these look REALLY, REALLY cool and I myself will be purchasing from this list for Father’s Day.)
1. Shish Kabob Set
For the Grilling Father. Nothing says, “Dad, I would really like you to make an awesome dinner,” like giving your dad a Shish Kabob Set. If he’s like my dad, he will most likely say, “This is great, you can cut the veggies, marinate the chicken, and skewer everything, and then I’ll spend a few minutes standing at the grill!” Shish Kabobs = totally worth it.
2. Bluetooth Thermometer
For the Gadget-Loving Father. My dad has something similar to this and he thinks it is SO COOL. Like, he will show it to dinner guests and explain how it works — I’ve sat through this discussion multiple, multiple times. This iDevices iGrill2 Bluetooth Thermometer syncs with and sends alerts to your phone. Dad can put meat on the grill and then come inside to mix up some cocktails. He’ll get a phone alert when the food has reached desired temperature. (Compatible with most Android and Apple devices – click the links to find out more.)
3. Chicken Leg Griller that doubles as a Jalapeño Roaster
For the Father who can’t get enough Man Food. With this Indoor/Outdoor Chicken Leg Griller and Jalapeño Roaster, Dad can cook 17 chicken legs without turning them or make 17 melty bacon-stuffed jalapeños without dealing with messy cheesy drippings. And then, if he’s a real man, he’ll
eat all of them himself share with his family because he’s the greatest dad ever. Oven and grill safe!
4. Silicone Grilling Gloves
For the Grill King who is always burning something (AKA My Dad). So, a little secret, that Bluetooth Thermometer is not fool-proof. It is still possible to burn food on the grill. My dad has proved that. My dad has also proved, on more than one occasion, that he is not afraid to stick his hands into a grill fire if it means saving four racks of ribs from a certain singed and charred death. And that’s where these Silicone Grilling Gloves come in handy. My dad will be getting these for Father’s Day. Perhaps he will make it to 60 years with both of his hands intact! (Also good for smoking, baking, and camping.)
5. Cast Iron Pizza Pan
For the Father whose specialty is Frozen Pizza. (So… for ALL Fathers?) If he’s going to make Frozen Pizza, at least let give him the tools to make it The Best Frozen Pizza Ever. This Cast Iron Pizza Pan promises golden crust, even heating, and excellent heat retention. Maybe with this pan, Dad will even be inclined to try making pizza from scratch! (But we won’t hold our breath!) You can also use this to roast veggies and bake chicken.
6. Trendy Ice Cube Trays
For the Trendy Bartender Father. These are all the rage right now. I’m a whiskey-on-the-rocks drinker in the winter and I can’t tell you how pleased I am when my glass comes with one huge, spherical ice cube. It keep the liquor cold without watering it down. It also just looks cool, which is the BIG selling point. I prefer the Sphere Ice Cubes, but they are individual molds and you only get two, so the King Cubes come in a close second. If your dad is a “rocks drinker,” or if he entertains rocks drinkers, or if you are a rocks drinker and you often find yourself at Dad’s house, then he should have these in the freezer. He is sure to get compliments and up his Cool Factor.
7. French Press
For the Caffeinated Father. I’ve always kind of wanted a French Press because it sounds so trendy. “Yes, a French Press Coffee would be divine, mademoiselle.” I’ve never purchased one before because it seems complicated. But that’s not true! I heard on the radio that 1. It only takes a few minutes to brew a French Press coffee, 2. It’s more flavorful, stronger, and more caffeinated (yay!) than regular brewed coffee, and 3. It’s the preferred method of brewing for coffee enthusiasts. If your dad
medicates starts his day with coffee, this is the gift for him!
8. Just for Fun – a Pancake Pen and a Beer Holster
For all Fun Fathers, which I hope is all Fathers out there! Use the Pancake Pen to create pancakes letters or smiley faces or whatever Dad’s heart desires. You are never too old for fun pancakes. And the Beer Holster, a description taken straight from Amazon.com because I can’t say it any better: Perfect for barbecues, parties, picnics, DIY jobs and gardening around the house — both hands are free and your cold beverage is always within reach. A real cowboy needs his holster!
