I made this puppy on Saturday night. Yep, Saturday PM, in the eve, late-night style. I know a 20-something city-slicker should be out doing 20-something city-slicking things, but you guys — I’m really a mid-30s-year-old at heart. In my heart, I’m maybe 36 and I have two small children in bed and a husband watching some man movie on the couch. And my handsome husband is going to think I’m a kickass wife with a heart of gold for whipping up something, anything, with chocolate, coffee, and whiskey, even if it’s not done until midnight.

I come to you this afternoon from my bedroom, wrapped up in a sweatshirt, house slippers on, under the covers of my bed, wondering if I have the energy to fetch another blanket to make myself an extra snuggly cocoon. That sounds delicious doesn’t it? All warm and cozy and comfy, with Little Miller at my side. The house still and quiet and clean.
Days like this deserve treats. And rainy days deserve treats. And since we’ve had so many rainy days in a row that I’ve lost count, I’m giving you this treat recipe. And because there is a string of more rainy days ahead, I know that you’ll be indoors, in your still and quiet and clean house, making treats like you deserve.

I did a Mother’s Day Gift Guide, so I feel like it’s only fair to do one for Father’s Day too. The father’s always seem to get the short end of the stick. Or is that just in my family? We give cards and flowers and sometimes little gifts on Mother’s Day and make Mother a nice dinner. But I can’t remember what we did on the last Father’s Day, or the Father’s Day before that, or if I was even home for either of them or even for the past 10. Huh.
