Telling food stories, one kitchen at a time
The BBF’s mom and sister invited me to pick blueberries recently. Big, sweet blueberries in the summertime are one of my favorite snacks, but I couldn’t eat them fast enough. There was enough to fill at least half a large coffee can! So naturally, I turned them into a dessert.
This dessert is slightly different than others I’ve made. It was already edited to be light, as it came from Eating Well magazine. Sshhhh — don’t tell the BBF!

My mom makes awesome jalapeño “poppers” in the summer with her homegrown jals. They aren’t breaded and deep-fried like the kind out of the box (although, who doesn’t like those?) — they’re oven-baked. Even so, they are far from being healthy. And I can never, EVER stop at just one. Or two. And rarely can I stop at three.
On the way to family dinner at my parent’s house last weekend, the BBF says, “I hope your mom makes those jalapeños!” And in that moment, I saw an opportunity to remind him just how great I am.

Summer Peach Week(s) of 2014 is finally coming to a close.
I spent the weekend at my parent’s house. On Saturday, Dad decided we should strip the peach trees. We threw away an ungodly amount of rotten peaches, but managed to salvage enough to cover our kitchen table. On Sunday, the three of us spent the day in the kitchen — Mom cutting and coring peaches, Dad making Peach Margaritas (YUM!), and me, baking!
