Ripe figs are summer’s sugar and they pair wonderfully with tart lemon in my recipe for Fresh Fig and Lemon Cream Tart. Using a refrigerated pie crust lets you save your energy for homemade, luscious lemon curd.

Dark Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie
Dark Chocolate Bourbon Pecan pie. Say it again, hmm? Dark.Chocolate. Bourbon. Pecan. Pie.
I do wanna talk about that, but I just went to this really wonderful wedding and let me take a sec to touch on that really fast. My brother got married and I now have the absolute coolest sister-in-law a girl could ask for. I will say that I’ve decided I never want to get married because I just can’t top that. That was the most fun I’ve ever had in one weekend and I will die happy now. I’ll want to throw some wedding pictures up here eventually, but if you are friends with me on Facebook, you’ve already seen a thousand pictures of me (and one or two of the bride and groom), and you’re ready for me to get to the food part of this blog post.

Cream Cheese Caramel Apple Dip
This post was originally published on August 24, 2014, but since I didn’t know what the heck I was doing with a camera, I’m republishing today with brand new photos.
I took this dip to a tailgate this weekend and it was g.o.n.e. in 60 seconds. Almost. Literally. People loved it. They had no idea that I made it with low fat and nonfat ingredients. And I had several people ask me for the recipe.
If you’re having a fall party — here’s your appetizer / dip / dessert. You’re welcome. 🙂

Stone Fruit Clafoutis
By the time you read this, I will have gotten my wisdom teeth out and I will be sleeping peacefully and painlessly with the help of some oral medications. Or so I hope! Otherwise I will be sobbing into my pillow with swollen cheeks and swollen eyes. It could really go either way. I’ve never been on anything stronger than Tylenol.
And by wisdom teeth, I mean, just one, possibly two. One is definitely giving me pain this week, but I can’t remember if it’s the one we are planning to pull or if it’s a different one. So today will be a surprise! Who doesn’t love surprises!?

Strawberry Lemon Buttermilk Pie
Strawberry Lemon Buttermilk Pie is a traditionally Southern recipe. The flavor is spot-on — noticeably tart, but not over-powering. The crust is just what it should be — flaky and crisp layered with soft and buttery. And it’s perfectly accompanied by sweet whipped cream.
My stomach is rumbling for this. I’m trying to eat it very, very slowly, so that I can write about how it tastes before I chow down and finish the pie off and then have no real, coherent thoughts or memories about how it tasted. In dietitian world, this is called mindful eating.

White Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddy Snack Mix
White Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddy Snack Mix is a mouthful to say, but it totally rings true because you are going to take so many mouthfuls. This recipe is as addictive as it is beautiful and will add a bright pop of color to your kitchen countertop.
There are so many heavenly things about this snack mix that needed to fit in the title so you would realize just how craveable this is. What I really want to name it is: Springtime White Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddies with Peanut AND Peanut Butter M&M’s and Pretzels. But I think there’s a character limit on blog post titles…?

Aunt Janet’s Cinnamon Rolls
I’m literally pulling this pan out of the oven as I watch snow come down outside.
I’m pulling cinnamon rolls out of the oven and I’m simmering a spicy posole for tonight’s supper. It’s THE ONLY way to get through a cold, snowy night. It makes me feel all warm and cozy on the inside.
Now I know these Cinnamon Rolls are the ‘ish because I already did a test run this weekend. While it was 20 degrees out on Sunday morning, I wore my *most flattering* sweatpants and made someone a special Valentine’s Day breakfast. ♥ ♥ ♥ (←All those hearts are for the cinnamon rolls…)

Guinness Chocolate Cheesecake, Bailey’s Whipped Cream
It will take you dozens of bites of Guinness Chocolate Cheesecake before you’re able to even think about putting your fork down. This recipe is a perfect pairing of creamy, rich chocolate and velvety, tangy stout.
